FundRaiser Basic helps you set up a targeted mailing through the Query function. The It’s much easier, and less expensive, to win a donor back than to find a new one. query button can be found on the tool bar right above the "last name" field. It can also be accessed through the "search" drop down menu. A query will display only records that match criteria that you specify.

To create the criteria for your lapsed donors, click on the Query button, and go to the Gift Fields page. For the date range labeled "Gave during this date range, but not since then" enter 08/01/2010 - 11/01/2011. For now (August 2012), people who gave during this date range but not since then are your prime renewal candidates. Click on the Set Query button. You will be shown how many donors match your criteria. You will also see a message telling you “Anything that you print will include ONLY the people in this query.” The letters of the Query button will change to red and become bolded to remind you that you have an active Query.

The donors in this Query are the people that you want to send a letter, reminding them of what you do, why it is important, who it helps, and how it can only continue with their continued support.

When you have finished printing your letters and envelopes or labels, click on the Query button (either from the tool bar above the last name field or through the search drop down menu). Click on the Cancel Query button. The text on the Query button will no longer be bolded and the text will return to black.
